Ride reports - June, July, August 2013
Healthy Ride, 24th Aug 2013
Ten riders set off from Peckham Square at 10am on a wet morning. Aiming to do the Parks Loop anti-clockwise. So down the Canal Path to Burgess Park. Across to Edmund St and up through Camberwell to Ruskin Park. Hence to Herne Hill and into Brockwell Park. Exit to Rosendale Rd and on to Dulwich Park. Refreshment and loo stop at the Pavilion Café. Discovered my bike had punctured, so delay putting in the spare inner tube. So no time for Peckham Rye Park. Headed home via Crystal Palace Rd and Lyndhurst Way.
Route is on google maps: Parks loop, Aug 2013, anti-clockwise. Or go to my places to look at all HR routes (http://goo.gl/maps/L6Jtj)
On map we did the Burgess park loop, then joined the main loop at Camberwell Grove. Did not do the Brockwell Pk loop or the side trip to Herne Hill Velodrome. Took alternative route back to Peckham Square.

Healthy Ride - August 10th 2013
Sixteen riders plus leader, most of whom had been on previous rides. A few new riders including 2 from the “Grange get Cycling” programme.
From Canada Water Library headed to Brunswick Quay on Greenland Dock and there it was. The Sustrans Portrait Bench including Barry’s bike and a cormorant. Picture on home page.
Followed the Connect 2 route (NCN 425) to Burgess Park. Found the BMX track. Very impressive. Even more impressive the very large number of youngsters waiting to ride it. Coaching by the Peckham Club was going on. Some of the more experienced riders really gave the track a go, making big jumps off some of the bumps. Several healthy riders declared they were going back later to have a go!
Back via the Russian tank (Mandela Way), Bermondsey Spa Park and the riverside. Route at bit.ly/15Lw4dx

Healthy Ride - June 8th 2013
11 riders (including 4 new riders) plus leader (Bruce). Open Garden Squares ride. Canada Water start, then down to river and along to Dockhead, then away from river on quiet streets to Red Cross Garden. This small garden was created over 100 years ago by Octavia Hill (co-founder of National trust) to provide some green space in deepest Bermondsey. Then on to Walworth for Pullens Yards (bunting flying) and Walworth Garden Farm (what a jewel). Continued past the Feilding Street allotments and across Burgess Park, turning north at east end of park and continuing via Soutyhwark Park and back to Canada Water. Beautiful day and everyone back safe and fitter! Route at http://goo.gl/maps/C6pUv
